ha ha, a book would be lovely Kevin. Not sure how much commercial mainstream value there would be in talking about stand ups and their failures but I could be wrong
You depict Art as a sad case here, Rosana -- a man who pretends to be a friend, but really just needs someone to insult so he can feel good about himself. I am not at all sure he is the kind of "friend" you need. The world of stand-up is hard enough. Anyway, I may be missing the mark here, but for some reason I am mystified by this relationship.
you are very right Sharron (I think you mean 'Rambo'). I'm exaggerating here and possibly would not count him as friend at all but it covers my generally ambiguous feelings about some 'friendly' comedy acquaintances. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment :)
something to do with 'you are who you hang out with'? I can't remember where I read this...possibly Napoleon Hill if that was his name
I follow so many good SubStacks, but yours just has to be my favorite. It’s a goddamn delight.
thank you Paige. I would like to quote 'goddamn delight' if I may ever need a review from a reader!
It’s a keeper. 😂
I so enjoyed this Rosana. The best comedy always reflects some of the hardships of life and you always achieve the right balance in your writing.
thanks Maureen. That's kind of you to say :)
Again, it’s true. It’s a great piece of insightful, funny observations. goddamit delight! To read!
“…you should always pick friends who are more successful than you.”
What the? No no No! What rationale could there possibly be for that?
This was enjoyable and it resonanted.
ah that's lovely to hear. Thanks Nick (glad I'm not alone, also)
I’d take Art before Rambo ‘the snake’ Monologue any Monday of the week!
Funny as feck, Rosana.
Thanks!
Thank you Kevin! Very kind of you to say
The pleasure was mine, Rosana.
From the pasta saga, to the shortbread with Art and his homemade card. Witty observations all around.
There’s a book to be written about the comedy circuits.
Why not have your name on its cover?

It’s a niche market. Surely?!😆

This is class. You’re a wonderfully funny writer!
Thank you Andy, very kind.
